Bringing this world famous city to life, one amazing sculpture at a time.

Inspired by the legendary founder of the modern Olympics, John Hulley, discover more about how this unique Sculpture Trail around Liverpool will be inspiring visitors and residents for years to come.
As Robin explains, the idea for the Liverpool Sculpture Trail came about when Brenda and I were thinking of donating the John Hulley Statue to the young people of Liverpool and future generations.

Penny and Max take the Sculpture Trail

It all started as an idea

One night we were discussing how people ( local and visitors to our city) would become aware of the statue and its location. This conversation made me think about the lamb banana trail, this lead to a conversation with Tom Murphy the sculptor, and we asked Tom had anyone come up with this idea of a sculptor trail map of his statues. Tom said many people had spoken about this idea to him but know one had implemented the idea.

Knowledge and health

We asked Tom if Liverpool Heartbeat could do a statue trail which would have young people walking into healthy lifestyles, whilst learning at the same time about our City.   We also asked Tom why he chose these statues and about the history of the statues he sculptured. On the reverse side of the map we have given a short background to all his statues, along with a quiz.
