Liverpool Heartbeat was formed in 2002 by a Merseyside businessman, Robin Baynes MBE. It was established to enable young people in the North West of England to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals by instilling aspirations towards education and purposeful and meaningful living. It achieves this by providing advice and assistance and organising programmes of educational and physical activities as a means for young people to help them develop their skills, capacities and capabilities. It also provides recreational and leisure time activity to promote social unity, inclusion and opportunity.
