Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Roz Gladden, has chosen Liverpool Heartbeat as one of her charities of the year.  The prestigious honor is shared with three other charities that work in the city supporting others.
Being chosen as one of the Lord Mayor’s charities will enable Liverpool Heartbeat to participate in a year long programme of events to raise funds, awareness of its work and help so many more young people through educational, physical and inspiring initiatives.
The Lord Mayor has served as a Liverpool City Councillor since 2003. She has been heavily involved in the adult social care and health portfolio and held a number of senior posts including Deputy Mayor and Cabinet member for adult social care and health. Liverpool Heartbeat promotes a healthy lifestyle agenda and more so, its founder, Robin Baynes, is Chairman of New Start, a social enterprise that delivers a diverse range of projects that are designed to help some of the most complex and disadvantaged groups across Merseyside.
Robin Baynes MBE, said, “We are delighted to be named Lord Mayor of Liverpool’s ‘Charity of the Year’.  We are looking forward to working with the Lord Mayor, her charity committee and the Town Hall to ensure we embrace this opportunity to make the fundraising a huge success.”
“We know all our supporters will get involved and we are looking forward to making new friends along the way.”
If you want to get involved please call Robin Baynes on 07968 193607.

PRESS RELEASE19 May 2016

Liverpool Heartbeat supporting Jemma for Miss Liverpool

Liverpool dance student, Jemma Rose Scott is hoping to become Miss Liverpool 2016 when she takes part in this year competition.  The opportunity was made possible when local charity, Liverpool Heartbeat, stepped in to make it possible by sponsoring her when she was invited to take part.

The Miss Liverpool has moved away from its bathing beauty image and instead contestants will take part in a series of qualifying rounds that include eveningwear, fundraising, talent and an Eco-fashion show.  Jemma has been working with students from Liverpool Community College to create an outfit made from recycled materials.

Jemma, 19, said, “I am so honoured that I will be representing Liverpool Heartbeat, especially as the competition is focused towards helping people in the community.  The charity does so much for young people in Merseyside and if I can promote the cause I hope it will inspire others to get involved. It will be amazing if I win because that would mean I will compete in the Miss England competition and spread the word further afield.”

Jemma, from Woolton, works part-time for Boots Opticians in Speke and is a dancer and keen actor.  Jemma is studying performing arts at Jennifer Ellison’s renowned Jelli Theatre Arts College where she is funded by the West-End actress and dancer.

Jemma recently performed on the main stage at the UK’s large dance exhibition, Move It.  Jemma and her fellow students received raving reviews for their performance, which has motivated her to achieve even more. In July, Jemma and Jelli Studios will be representing Team England at the Dance World Competition, from the 26th June to the 3rd July, competing against dancers from around the world. When she qualifies she hopes to become an inspiring actress, work in TV and follow in Jennifer’s footsteps.

Robin Baynes MBE, Founder of Liverpool Heartbeat, said, “Liverpool Heartbeat is all about helping young people achieve in life. We do this by inspiring, motivating and creating life-changing opportunities for them. When we heard about what Jemma has achieved so far and what she wants to go on to do, it seemed right for us to lend our support.  Everyone at Liverpool Heartbeat is rooting for her and we wish her the very best of luck on the night.”

jelliMerseyside charity, Liverpool Heartbeat, is continuing its support of young people to live healthy and fulfilling lives by sponsoring 25 dancers to attend the UK’s biggest dance event.

‘Move It’ is a three-day event that takes place in London on the weekend of the 18-20 March 2016. It allows dancers of all levels to come together in one gigantic celebration of all styles and things related to dance.

Liverpool Heartbeat was approach by Jelli Studio, established by actress, dancer and singer, Jennifer Ellison, to help cover the travel, accommodation and entry costs of the young people attending the event.

Robin Baynes MBE, founder of Liverpool Heartbeat, said, “As a charity committed to the development of young people through sporting, education and leisure activities, we were delighted to be asked to get involved.

“The Move It event is an exciting event that enables the young dancers to showcase their hard work and efforts on the national stage.

“The Liverpool Heartbeat donation will ensure that all the young people, regardless of social background and personal circumstances, will be able to attend.

“On behalf of everyone at Liverpool Heartbeat and all our supporters, I would like to wish everyone at Jelli Studios the very best of luck and we look forward to hearing how they got on at the event.”
