Merseyrail
Merseyrail Bootle was formed in 2013 and we entered a team in to the Liverpool County FA Girls league. In the February of 2014 we attended a meeting with Merseyrail and was asked if we would set up and run the youth section.

In the May of 2014 we had an open day and invited girls along who may have been interested in giving the game a go. We had 9 girls on that first day and 3 of them are still there and have improved a great deal.

We played in a couple of tournaments and had several friendly’s before the season started. Our first season was the 2014/15 season. To say this was a baptism of fire is an understatement. We suffered many heavy defeats and all credit to the girls they still came along to training each week and trying to improve themselves.
When your losing each week this takes a lot of determination from players coaches and parents. As coaches me (Tommy Cook) and Ste cavanagh said things will get better we just have to keep putting the effort in.

After the xmas break things did start to improve. When your losing 10-0 every week losing 7-0 is an improvement. The margins of defeat came down as we whittled away. It got to the stage towards the end of the season where we where not losing games until the final minutes.
This was the improvement the girls had made as a team. Then came the day we won a game. We beat St Helens 2-1. The look of joy from everyone involved in the team was great to see.

We then had enough girls to enter 2 teams in the league and we had our u10s and U11s. We entered summer tournaments and did well in a couple. We even won one mini tournament in Maghull.

In our 2nd season the 2015/16 season our new U10s more than held their own and our U11s finished 2nd in the league. We should have won the league but we where piped to it by Brazil. They had to put up with some unkind comments from a rival manager who asked how the hell where we top of the league. A good 3-0 drubbing answered his question.
Last Season we entered our 3rd team in to the league. Our New U10s have had a difficult season but their improvement is there to see. We are confident we can compete next season. Mike Alcock, Megan Mackay and John Manion are their coaches and they will nurture them along and develop them in to good footballers.
We have our u8 development squad in training already and under coaching from Rebecca Sansbury we are confident they will be ready for their first season of competitive football.

As a club we are trying to encourage girls to play football improve fitness and create a team spirit. This season U10s have such a great team spirit that at the presentation night they where still tripping the light fantastic at 12.30am while the rest had gone home.

It takes many people to help make a good team and in our sponsors new start we have had nothing but fantastic support. They have been with our older team from day 1 and we are grateful to have them support us, as we are the other teams sponsors.

We want the girls to have long careers and hopefully successful ones at that. I started by mentioning our ladies team so ill mention them in finishing with them. They have been promoted 3 season out of the 4. They won the Liverpool league and where promoted to the North West women’s regional league. Then last May gained promotion to the premier division. This is a high standard of football. What we are trying to achieve for the younger girls is to get to that standard where they will move up to our women’s team in time. Or even higher, maybe professional level. That’s for the future but that’s our aim.

Keep the good work up.

So another competition has come and gone and yet again you were all amazing guys and made me very proud!!!

Senior 2 stunt team: A wobbly start but you finished with confidence and pride, this was a great practice for nationals were I know you will hit 1st place....bring on the next comp to take your 1st place trophy home.

Chloe ludden: Simply a pleasure to watch, you float across the floor with so much elegance and style and you are a pleasure to teach and I was proud of you yesterday. Simply beautiful inside and out!

Taylor Jo: our little dynamite diva, amazing performance with so much sass!! You listened to me and hit everything with power and precision!!!! You deserved that 1st place!!! So proud of you.

Senior 3: you girls smashed it and I am so proud of you all. You truly worked as a team and the bond is lovely to watch!!! Well done to steph and her rubber head for literally pushing that stunt up and saving the skill! You are all amazing and deserved your 1st place trophy!!!! Super proud coach.

My senior 1 team:Some results were questionable as my senior 1 team put on a perfect hitting performance, hit every stunt with precision and passion, every dance step was in time and jumps were to a height I've never seen. You all looked incredible and I honestly can't stop watching the video of you!!!!

For other coaches on the day to say " you are the only team worth watching on the mat" says it all!!!!! You all trained so hard and I am proud to be your coach.

The team gained a fantastic 2nd place out of 11 which is amazing.....but as a loyal and passionate coachfor my team it wouldn't of been right for me not to question the results!!

Peolle who truly know me will know I will always stand up for what is right and I am loyal till the end for my athletes and what sort of a coach would I be if I just sat back and didn't stand up for my girls and what I thought was right!!!
All I can say is in my eyes 2nd is fantastic but to me you truly are the rightful winners!!!!

And finally GRAND CHAMPIONS OF THE DAY!!!!

This is a massive well done to senior 3 stunt group for hitting those points and winning this award for the whole club!! We are proud of you and thank you for another amazing trophy, which is actually bigger than both flyers.

Thank you to the parents and my wonderful mum, for your support and looking after the kids and me the whole day!!!!

All in all another amazing comp for NCD, truly a team to be reckoned with!!!!

Love you all.

COACH Darby. Xxxxx

logoWe are delighted to announce that Liverpool Heartbeat and the John Hulley Legacy have agreed to sponsor the Triathlon England NW Regional Academy.  The sponsorship will enable the purchase of cycling jackets for the Academy and will display the Liverpool Heartbeat and John Hulley Legacy symbols.  As well as supporting the young athletes the partnership aims to highlight the John Hulley legacy across a National and International arena.
The Academy and Para Academy support around 20 athletes who are aspiring to become Elite Triathletes through the Academy, the England Talent squad and ultimately the World Class Olympic programme.
The Academy takes highly talented athletes aged 14 – 19 from the Merseyside, Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester area and helps them to develop their craft in a holistic manner with long term goals at the forefront.
Robin Baynes presented the Academy with the cheque on Crosby Beach with the Iron Man lending a hand.  The Academy are hugely grateful for the support of Liverpool Heartbeat and look forward to working closely with Robin and his team in their triathlon journey.

2016 has been a particularly good year for the Academy as we had 4 athletes, Matt Willis, Daniel Slater, Marcus Dey and Olivia Green all of whom qualified in a national triathlon qualifier to join the team of 8 to represent GB at Elite level in the European Youth Championships in Hungary in July.  This level of representation is unprecedented from one Region and is testament to the hard work of the athletes and their dedicated coaches.  Matt Willis brought home the Silver medal for GB and the NW.  We are hoping 2017 will bring some more GB honours.

CROSBY LAKESIDE JUNIOR AQUATHLON

Saturday's Junior Aquathlon attracted some of the North West's best young multisport athletes to Crosby Lakeside. The course ,of varying distances, consisted of a lake swim followed by a run up to the promenade overlooking the famous ironmen statues. After early morning rain, conditions were cool with only 2 of the 90 competitors brave enough to swim without wetsuits.

The first race involved competitors in the Juniors and Youth  category. There was a double for host club Merseytri with wins for Josh Chapman and Anna Hulme in the Juniors while the Youth race saw wins for Adam Jones [St Helens] and Megan Smith [Wigan] As the distances got shorter and the competitors younger ,the action was fast and furious with experienced young triathletes trying to gain points for the North West Series mixing with youngsters who were experiencing open water swimming for the first time. There was tremendous support for all the youngsters with special cheers for the 8 year olds who competed in the final Tristart wave of the day

With all the competitors finishing down the Avenue of Flags and receiving a medal it really was a great event at a perfect venue for Aquathlon
